Ingredient Sourcing
Sure our technique is masterful, but our nut butters would be nothing without fresh, high quality raw ingredients. The main factors that affect where we source our ingredients are: flavor, farming practices, the grower/manufacturer's proximity to Los Angeles (where we're based), and cost. While we would prefer to use only certified organic ingredients, it is not an iron-clad policy. One of the reasons is that nuts with thick shells (like pecans) don't require intensive (or any) pesticides to grow. Ultimately, we want to balance our commitment to quality and the environment with the accessibility of our products. Right now, the vast majority of our nuts are coming from the west coast. Our honey comes from a small, local honey company out of Santa Barbara: San Marcos Farms.
